Tracy Ferriter Case / Boy in Box

The case of Tracy Ferriter, a Jupiter woman accused of locking her teenage adopted son in a box-like structure in their garage, has captivated the attention of the nation. With numerous twists and turns, the trial has raised questions about child abuse, neglect, and the limits of parental discipline. In this comprehensive article, we will delve into the details of the case, the legal proceedings, and the key players involved.

The Allegations and Arrest

The ordeal began when Jupiter police arrested Tracy and her husband, Timothy Ferriter, in February 2022, on charges of aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment, and child neglect. The charges stemmed from allegations that the couple kept one of their four children confined for extended periods in an 8-foot-by-8-foot structure built in their home’s garage in the Egret Landing residential neighborhood.

According to prosecutors, the child was provided with a bucket to use as a toilet while confined in the structure, which could only be unlocked from the outside. The abuse was said to have started during the Ferriters’ time in Arizona and continued when they moved back to Jupiter in late 2021.

Prominent defense attorney Marc Shiner made the decision to withdrew from the case on Friday, December 15th. He informed Circuit Judge Howard Coates that the trial date, scheduled for March, did not allow enough time for his team to adequately prepare their defense for Tracy.

So now Tracy must seek new council for her trial.
