This incident led to the arrest of an 18-year-old named Zakkary McReynolds, who is now facing a murder charge.

The Tragic Overdose Incident

On the morning of September 25, 2023, law enforcement officers from the Denton Police Department received an emergency call regarding an overdose in the 7500 block of Barrymore Road. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered Ryan Erwin unresponsive and immediately rushed him to the hospital.

Despite their efforts, Erwin was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that his cause of death was a result of combined fentanyl and diphenhydramine toxicity.
