The Tragic Case of Matthew Malleaux: The Man who Beat Grandma to Death
In the small town of Sparta, Michigan, a heartbreaking event unfolded, leaving a community in shock and a family torn apart. 24-year-old Matthew Malleaux was at the center of this tragic incident, accused of brutally beating his 85-year-old grandmother, Anne Parker, which ultimately led to her untimely death.
The Unfolding of the Tragedy
It was on August 7, 2017, that emergency responders were called to the home shared by Matthew Malleaux and his grandmother, Anne Parker, in the 100 block of Clark Street NW in Sparta. The call was in response to Parker’s CareLink medical alert device being activated. What awaited the responders at the scene was a harrowing sight. They found Anne Parker lying unconscious on the floor, bearing severe injuries inflicted by a violent altercation.
Matthew Malleaux, in a state of distress, reportedly refused to allow officers and medical personnel to enter the home. This led to a standoff as troopers and other officers observed the gravely injured grandmother inside the residence. Tragically, Anne Parker succumbed to her injuries the following day, on August 8, after undergoing surgery.
