Darlene Haynes was a young mom from Massachusetts whose life was marred by personal struggles and tragedy. Her relationship with her estranged boyfriend, Roberto “Tito” Rodriguez, was fraught with violence and difficulties.

Darlene Haynes experienced domestic violence in her relationship with Rodriguez. She had reported him to the police for an assault where he had thrown her into a glass table and ripped the phone from the wall to prevent her from calling for help.

Haynes’s family life was also troubled; her mother left her in the care of her grandmother, Joanne, when she was just six years old. Haynes became a young mother she had four children.
