Lexington IT Manager Arrested for allegedly stealing from the small town in South Carolina Financial Crimes: Bea Daniels
In a recent development in Lexington, South Carolina, a former town employee, Bea Daniels, has been taken into custody facing serious allegations of financial crimes.
Details of the Allegations
Beatrice L. Lyons-Daniels, who held the position of IT manager for the town of Lexington from 2014 until December 2023, is accused of unauthorized purchases were done using a purchasing card issued by the town. She reportedly used the town’s Amazon account to make these purchases for her own personal use, which were not authorized as part of her role. The purchases amounted to around $57,201.13.
The Investigation and Arrest
An internal audit initiated by the finance department uncovered several unauthorized expenditures along with misleading documentation and fraudulent invoices associated with these purchases. The audit revealed that the unauthorized transactions spanned from July 2021 to December 2023.
