Kennedy Cousin Michael Skakel / Martha Moxley

Martha Moxley, a popular and vibrant teenager, moved with her family from Piedmont, California, to Greenwich, Connecticut, in the summer of 1974. Despite the challenges of being a new girl in town, Martha quickly found her place, making friends and becoming well-liked by her classmates at Western Junior High School.

Described as friendly, athletic, and talented in the arts, Martha seemed to have everything going for her. She had developed a friendship with two of the Skakel boys, Michael and Tommy, who lived across the street. Martha’s diary entries revealed her interactions with the Skakel brothers, expressing concerns about their behavior.

The Skakel Connection

During the summer of 1975, Martha Moxley spent time at the exclusive Belle Haven Club, where she socialized with a group of privileged teenagers. Among them were Michael and Tommy Skakel, cousins of the Kennedy family, who lived across the street from the Moxleys. She was last spotted at the Skakel residence, where she spent time with Michael and Tommy. Witnesses reported seeing Martha and Tommy engaging in flirtatious behavior.

However, Martha made it clear to her friends that she was not interested in pursuing anything beyond friendship with him. Tragically, Martha never made it home that night.
