Discovery of Riley Strain’s Body
Riley Strain, a 22-year-old University of Missouri student, has been found deceased after going missing earlier in March. The discovery brings a tragic end to the extensive search efforts by both authorities and volunteers.
The Disappearance
Strain went missing on March 8, 2024, after attending a “private event” in Nashville with his fraternity brothers. Reports indicate that he was separated from his group during the night out. The University of Missouri senior was visiting the city on a trip with fraternity Delta Chi, reportedly for a spring formal.
Investigation and Search Efforts
The case saw significant search efforts, including from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) and the United Cajun Navy, a nonprofit search and rescue organization. Strain’s disappearance prompted searches by air and water, focusing on the Cumberland River area where his phone was last tracked.
Discovery of the Body
On the morning of March 22, following intensive search efforts, police announced Strain’s body had been recovered from the Cumberland River, approximately 8 miles from downtown Nashville. The announcement by MPND on social media stated, “No foul play-related trauma was observed. An autopsy is pending”.
