Daniel Charles Howard: From Idaho State Trooper to Accused Wife Murderer Kendy Howard

Daniel Charles Howard 57, a former officer with the Idaho State Police (ISP), has had a tumultuous history both within and outside of his law enforcement career. Before the controversial incidents that led to his resignation, Howard had served with distinction for 19 years. His career began to unravel due to personal and professional crises that seemed to compound over time.

Criminal Charges and Resignation

In May 2014, Howard faced serious charges including first-degree stalking, aggravated assault, and malicious injury to property. These charges were a result of Howard’s reaction to discovering his wife’s alleged affair with a neighbor. Howard reportedly became “extremely agitated” and engaged in a series of confrontations and acts of harassment against the man involved.

Howard’s behavior during this period included following his neighbor in his patrol vehicle, theft of firearms and mail, and property damage which led to the neighbor moving away out of fear. His actions culminated in a plea deal where Howard admitted to several charges, including using a fictitious name on a title application and possessing a white-tailed deer without a tag.
